Founded in 1970, Mitsubishi is the sixth largest auto maker in Japan, seventeenth in the world, and employs over 33,000 people. They are headquartered in Minato, Tokyo Japan.

To help get introduced into countries Mitsubishi aligned themselves with established auto makers. In the US the sold a 15% share to Chrysler. They have also been aligned with Hyundai, Proton, Volvo, Peugeot & Citroen, and Colt & Lonsdale.

Mitsubishi also has a 30 year relationship with Jackie Chan - if you pay close attention you will see that he uses Mitsubishi vehicles in most of his movies.
